It's a Halloween thing

We had a really fun Halloween themed Birthday party, decorating pumpkins, making mummy lanterns, making each other into mummies, playing games, and eating mummy dogs, monster apples, witch fingers, and bones-n-blood (all ideas from ourbestbites.com)

I found time to make three costumes this year; Lydia's Belle costume and Nathan and Tim's knight costumes.

Don't these look fun?

I saw these today and decided I was going to have to make them sometime this Halloween season.
They look so fun, I am excited to make them, but they will have to wait a week or two. Too much is happening lately.

Cup cakes, Cakes, and parties

Everyone loves cake...right? Okay maybe not everyone, but my kids do and we love throwing parties to have cake, or so it seems ;)

This cake was made for a friend, found the idea online.

I wanted to try making a map of the 100 Acre Woods for my son's first birthday. It could use some improvement but I think it turned out alright.

This cake I thought was a fun idea. I saw a pic of it online done by someone else and thought I would try to duplicate it for my friend's birthday. The black keys are kit-kat bars. The rest of the decor was done with melting chocolate.

I love my girls and they love their dolls (especially Lydia - she will bring a doll with her about everywhere, read to it, tuck it in, and even draw pictures for her). So it only stands to reason that we would have to celebrate their birthday too, right :)

Here is my other daughter on her dolls birthday, I thought cupcakes would do rather than a huge cake.

Nathan is 5!

Growing up my parents couldn't afford to give us a lot. But my mom had a way of making us feel practically like royalty on our birthdays. She would do little things like make us our favorite meals, spend extra time with us...things that weren't everyday.
I admire my mom for that and appreciate her for instilling that kind of *specialness* association to birthdays.
Making cool looking cakes has become my way of saying "Happy Birthday, It's YOUR special DAY!"
This year for my sons birthday he got an airplane cake. He has said in the past that one day he is going to make and fly real airplanes ;)

I got the idea from here parenting.com and familyfun.com have some really fun cake ideas.Oh,and a friend of mine recently introduced me to ourbestbites.com, another site with fun ideas relating to food.

Fancy Nancy gets a nightgown too!

So I had some material left over from Emilie's pajamas and decided to test my talents further and make a nightgown for one of Emilie's dolls. I think it turned out good too.

Sewing...it can be done

So it took me a long time to get around to doing so, but I finally finished making my kids pajamas and a matching heart pillow. Little Timmy didn't get pajamas, just a pillow ;)

My kids thoughts

'Hey Nathan what makes you so handsome' -Me

'Because I am so good at playing with and taking care of legos.'-Nathan

'Hey Emilie what makes you so beautiful?'-Me

'My beautiful cloths and jewelry.' -Emilie

'You are more beautiful than your cloths and jewelry, cloths and jewelry just expresses who you are to other people. Your cloths could be ugly and dirty and you would still be beautiful,
what really makes you beautiful?.' -Me

'Myself.' -Emilie

'Awesome, good job Em *hi five*' - Me

'Hey Mom, if my cloths were all dirty I wouldn't wear them, I would just have to be naked.' - Nathan

Yes that is my little boy, I love how his mind works;).

We have fun with Cake!

Oh no are they destroying the cake?..., nah they are what make this cake cool...

Or is this cake cool on its own?
(this cake was made for a friend to celebrate her birthday while she was in town)

I don't feel I know much about fancy cake decorating, but I like making a cake look cool, special just for that person on their birthday and keep it tasting yummy!

This fun little pony land was for my littlest princesses' 3rd birthday. I get cake ideas from many sites, sometimes just from searching for picture images around a particular theme...which is what I did for this pony land cake.

And for those of you whom are not familiar with the Star Craft game this is a Zerg Hive although it is missing the mine type things (yeah that is right I am not a huge Star Craft player myself - although I do enjoy WoW...when I get the chance to play). It was made for my husbands best friends birthday.

This fun little guy was for my husbands birthday this last year.

These were among the first few cakes I made (for my older brother's birthday) and were so fun I decided I had to keep making fun cakes for people for their Birthday!

This is another cake I am proud of that I made for one of my sister's best friend's birthday...it was a fun experiment.

Themed cakes are FUN for Halloween, Easter, or just because you want to make a treat look cool :)

Time for a Change

Lately I keep thinking I need to do something about my blog I am way behind on life events and it is not worth it to me to even try to catch up. So today I decided to start anew, I deleted the old and plan to start posting again soon.
